Dear all,

The latest Lockdown order will expire on 14 June 2020. International border points and international flights will remain suspended till the end of this month.

Security measures have been put in place and many security personnel have been mobilized across the region and along India-Nepal border to implement lockdown order. Although the lockdown orders have not been eased officially, the number of people flocking to the streets and vehicle movements have increased substantially over the past couple of days. Markets in most of the places have been reported partially open.

 COVID 19

09 June, May, a total of 1936 confirmed cases of COVID 19 have been reported in WR (Karnali-649, Sudurpaschim-108 & Province 5- 1179) while total count in the country has gone up to 3762. (Source: [https://covid19.ndrrma.gov.np)/]https://covid19.ndrrma.gov.np)
09 June, Jajarkot district, Swab collection has been stopped after labs in Jumla and Surkhet could not cope with the soaring number of COVID cases in Karnali. (Source: thehimalayantimes.com)
 EASTERN Region (ER)/Far Easter Districts (FED):

09 June: Eastern region: Nationwide lockdown: GoN has extended the duration of nationwide lockdown until 14 June 2020.   The effect of nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, had been observed to be effective as usual in the ER. Police and APF are seen deployed in the streets to enforce the public to restrict unnecessary movements. In the city areas of ER, few grocery shops and emergency services ( Medical, Vegetable, Milk, Gas etc.) are observed to be open up to 3 pm everyday by the district administrations in various districts of the province 1 and 2. Personal movements are limited to access those services in order to ease the essential goods. Highways and roads are operational but limited for the emergency services allocated by the provincial government only with the permit issued by DAO.  Borders attached with India and China have been completely shut down but daily consumable emergency items ( e.g. food, vegetables, medicines) are permitted on need basis. 2.  ER COVID-19 Pandemic update- as of 09 June 2020:



i.    08 June: Dhanusha district: The number of police personnel contracting the novel coronavirus in Nepal has reached 34 after one more cop tested positive for COV- ID-19 in Dhanusha district. (Source: Himalayan times)

ii.  08 June: Province 2: Province government has decided to procure 4 additional PCR machine to fight against COVID-19. (Source: Online Khabar)

iii. 08 June: Sarlahi district: 120 new cases of COVID-19 were added in the tally of the district in the last 24 hours. (Source: Online Khabar)

Daily Update - Central Region Update -09-06-2020

CENTRAL Region: 

Government has extended the nationwide lockdown until 14 June 2020. The Cabinet meeting has also decided to mobilize the army in the areas most affected by the coronavirus. This is the eight time that the nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic has been extended. The lockdown was imposed since 24 March 2020 to prevent the spread of the novel Corona virus. Nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been found to be effective in the Central Region. Security forces are seen deployed in the streets to enforce the public to restrict unnecessary movements. All the international flights have been suspended until 30 June 2020, except emergency services, repatriation of expats, import medicines and essential supplies. Highways and roads are all operational; however, the movement has been restricted to essentials only. Vehicle passes for traveling from one district to another has been revoked from 14th May 2020. If needed to travel the chief officer of the district needs to get approval from the chief officer of another district. (Source: Nepal Police Operations / Traffic FM)

For entering to Kathmandu Valley from outside of the valley, the approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs is mandatory. However, this rule will not be applicable in the three districts of the valley. (Source: Nepal Police Operations / Traffic FM)

The transit point of the East-West Highway adjoining Bagmati Province from Province-2 has been closed from 13th May 2020 until further notice. The Makawanpur district COVID-19 prevention command post had decided to close the movement of people and vehicles to Hetauda via Churiyamai transit after the spread of coronavirus infection in districts of Province-2 adjoining the Bagmati province. As per Nepal Police Operation, anyone who is required to go to the hospital for medical emergencies should call 100. They should provide their vehicle details and inform the Police office, the name of the hospital they are visiting. By doing this, the vehicle will be allowed movement by security personnel, deployed at various places. The same applies to people moving out to purchase essential items or other work. (This, however, will be decided based on urgency)  

The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu issued a strict provision in issuing passes. Issuing a notice saying that it would issue passes only those attending funeral rites of their relatives. Stating that there has been a significant increase of people seeking passes, has been a risk of violating the lockdown.

On 06 April 2020, the Ministry of Health & the population has appealed, people not to come outside of the house unless there is an emergency, and to compulsory wear masks when coming outside of the home.
